1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using TaxBox ("Service"), available at thetaxbox.ai, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

TaxBox is a web-based expense tracking and document management platform designed for freelancers and small businesses. It provides AI-powered receipt extraction, financial reporting, and tax preparation tools.

3. Account Registration

You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • •Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • •Upload fraudulent, misleading, or harmful content
  • •Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
  • •Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • •Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the Service

5. Subscriptions & Billing

TaxBox offers free and paid plans. Paid subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial months.

6. Data Ownership

You retain full ownership of all documents and data you upload to TaxBox. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content. You grant us a limited license to process your data solely for providing the Service.

7. AI Processing

TaxBox uses AI (powered by Anthropic Claude) to extract information from your documents. While we strive for accuracy, AI-extracted data may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all extracted information. TaxBox is not a substitute for professional accounting or tax advice.

8. Limitation of Liability

TaxBox is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of the Service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your data will be retained for 30 days to allow for export, after which it will be permanently deleted.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
